AGI proudly announces that we have opened our newest location at Rickenbacker Airport in Columbus, Ohio.

The 46,000 square foot, eight-door, one-ramp facility in LCK is located at 6959 Alum Creek Dr. in Columbus, just minutes from LCK’s ramp. It can be reached by phone at (773) 570-6432 and selecting option 5. The FIRMS code is HBHI. The facility can be emailed at lck@maestrocargo.com. Reservations can be made using SprintPass, either on the web or via their phone app.

Rickenbacker is open from 08:00 – 20:00 ET, Monday through Friday.

AGI’s Chief Commercial Officer and former MIC Cargo CEO Edip Pektas made the decision to open in Rickenbacker last year prior to selling to AGI. The location was slated to be MIC’s first outside their home market of Chicago.

“From our point of view, Rickenbacker was where we felt it best to next open based on current traffic forecasts, the Rickenbacker logistics community and our opportunity to offer service to a number of our existing clients outside of Chicago. We’re pleased to expand the number of cities AGI serves with this new location.”

AGI has selected Charles Michael “Mike” Sprayberry as the facility’s General Manager. Mike joins AGI after holding a position as a ramp manager with another company and is an air cargo veteran originally from Atlanta who found his way into the industry as a 20-year old back in 1991. Mike recalls the first aircraft he handled was “a UPS 747” and relocated to Columbus from his native Atlanta for this position.

Rickenbacker opened in 1942 as Lockbourne Army Airfield and during the Cold War was Lockbourne Air Force Base and assigned to the USAF’s Strategic Air Command. Following a recommendation to close by the 1991 Base Realignment and Closure Commission, two years later it was instead realigned and retains the 121st Air Refueling Wing and the 160th Air Refueling Group of the Ohio Air National Guard.

Today, the airport is operated by the Columbus Regional Port Authority and last year completed runway improvements to better handle the world’s largest freighter aircraft such as the Boeing 747-8F. Rickenbacker also boasts one of the fastest plane-to-truck transfers in the United States and is strategically located within a 10-hour drive of half the US and a third of Canada’s populations.

Airlines who are interested in utilizing AGI’s ground handling facilities in Rickenbacker can contact MIC COO Rafal Rapacz, AGI Central Region Director John Morones or AGI Vice President of Operations Gerald Kolash for more information.
